Damien Hirst is an English conceptual artist, born in Bristol, England in 1965. He is considered one of the top British artists and also internationally. Hirst's art addresses vanitas and beauty, death and rebirth, medicine, technology, and mortality. He is known for presenting dead animals in formaldehyde as art and employing ready-made objects to question the very nature of art. In 1995, he won the Turner Prize, Great Britain's premier award for contemporary art. Some of his most famous works include "The Physical Impossibility of Death in the Mind of Someone Living," "For the Love of God," and "The Golden Calf." Hirst is reportedly the United Kingdom's richest living artist, with his wealth estimated at £215 million.
